Company Profile:

Transition to Teaching is a Government programme that has been designed with employers to help combat the shortage of specialist secondary school teachers in key subjects and the skills shortage in science, maths, ICT and engineering industries.

The programme works in partnership with employers to promote a second career teaching secondary level science, maths and ICT to individuals who are leaving or thinking about leaving their current employer.

The aim of this being that with industry experienced individuals teaching in these shortage subjects is that it will inspire students to further study and work in STEM related industries as well as providing schools with industry experienced teachers in key subjects.

Transition to Teaching offers partner organisations a range of support to help implement the programme within their organisation. This includes a tool kit of resources, marketing materials and speakers to host events and workshops about teaching.

Every individual who joins the programme is assigned a professional development advisor who is a former teacher and will coach, mentor and guide the individual throughout their move into teaching. They will also be given access to a virtual learning academy and invites to a range of events
